The neighbourhood report

What the public data and the press report within 500 m of an address, gathered in one document.

Who it is for

For people buying or renting a home or looking for a business location, and for brokers who want an area’s public record in one document. It answers three questions: what has been reported nearby, how that compares with the rest of the island, and how it has changed since 2015.

What the report contains

Summary and what stands out
Written findings, chosen by fixed, published rules: serious incidents first, then rates clearly above or below the island’s.
In the press
Events reported by Montréal media since January 2015 within 500 m, the borough’s count, and press-reported violence within 1 km.
Around the address
Maps of where SPVM reports cluster, all categories together, then one category at a time.
Crime within 500 m
The last twelve months, the four twelve-month periods before them and the change since 2015, per resident, against the island.
Serious and violent crime
The police sector’s totals, serious incidents near the address, deaths within 1 km since 2015, and Statistics Canada’s rates for the SPVM’s territory.
311 requests
Requests made to the City about discarded needles and about homelessness within 500 m, against the City of Montréal.
Fire and medical
Interventions by Montréal’s fire department (SIM) within 500 m, month by month.
How to read it, sources and limits
How to read each figure, where the data comes from and what it leaves out, with appendices of reports year by year and Statistics Canada’s tables.
